SuperMartxe VIP 125cc MotoGP

When Paris Hilton officially announced Monday that she will be fielding riders for the 2011 125cc MotoGP Championship, the media went mad, every outlet from the New York Times to the most notable journalist in the motorcycle industry vying for a better angle.
As coverage continued of this pop star entering the world of MotoGP racing, many eagerly awaited for the unveiling of the new SuperMartxe VIP by Paris Hilton team, which is a joint effort with the By Queroseno Racing (BQR) racing team out of Barcelona.
And this superstar premier came Saturday, as Hilton presented her new 125cc MotoGP team in the Spanish Capital of Madrid. Donned in skin-tight leathers, Hilton unveiled the pink, white and blue Aprilia RSA motorcycles alongside SuperMartxe VIP riders Sergio Gadea and Maverick Vinales.
Vinales, 15, won both the Spanish national and European 125cc championships this year.
The SuperMartxe team will be run by Raul Romero, who stated he will fight for the final 125cc title before the category is replaced by the new Moto3 class in 2012.
MotoGP states the sporting and technical director will be Ricard Jové whilst the highly accomplished Rossano Brazzi, who has previously worked alongside Valentino Rossi and Max Biaggi, will be responsible for the preparation of the bikes.
Reports say that Paris Hilton was approached by BQR team partner Riccard Garriga and Nano Barea, the founder of SuperMartxe (an Ibiza-based dance-party series that Hilton has been affiliated since 2009). Hilton responded excitedly, and decided to become one of the team owners.
Under contract, Paris Hilton must attend five (out of 17) rounds of the MotoGP Championship. It has not been reported which races she will attend.
Although MotoGP races are the most popular across motorcycle racing, Hilton's exposure is expected to bring an even wider audience to the sport.

Hilton will be another giant celebertiy within the motor-racing industry; the other most notable celebrity is Michael Jordan, who fields a team in the AMA Superbike series.

Rea admits to 'good feeling' on MotoGP debut

Ten Kate World Superbike Championship front-runner Jonathan Rea makes an encouraging MotoGP debut in a private test session with HRC at Sepang in Malaysia

In a private three-day test session around the Sepang International Circuit on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, Honda Ten Kate World Superbike Championship front-runner Rea joined HRC test rider Kousuke Akiyoshi to help to develop the RCV212 in preparation for next season.

After the bike's riding position was adjusted to suit his stature, the 23-year-old joined his Suzuka 8-hour team-mate out on-track, with the pair making the most of the warm weather at the 5.548km circuit to complete almost a full day's work, interrupted only by a brief rain shower.

“Today I had great fun learning a MotoGP bike, and the Sepang circuit is impressive!” the Ulsterman reported following 51 laps as he familiarised himself with the characteristics of the grand prix machine. “My body is still not 100 per cent and this is a pity, but I had a very good day with the HRC test team.

“I've spent almost all of my career on production-derived bikes; I just rode a 125GP a few years ago, and today I had a good feeling riding the Honda RCV212. The bike feels very powerful, the engine revs higher than my CBR1000R and it is easy to change direction. I'd like to thank HRC and Honda Europe for this opportunity, and I'm looking forward for the next two days of testing.”

Honda Hornet 600 2011

Bestseller motorcycle market for many seasons, the latest version of the Honda CB600F Hornet, launched in 2007, failed to collect the sales success that was expected. Ironically, the last Hornet 600 placed on the market was the best of all, thanks to a new engine, derived from the CBR600RR the same year, and a chassis really to the point, but it did not have a well-deserved commercial success. Much of the low public acceptance, in our view, it is derived from upstream of codon look too, which did not meet the favor of customers, loyal to the flowing lines and slender, pointed upward, while the tail of the Hornet, was aimed inexorably downward.

The new 2011 version of the Hornet, presented at EICMA 2010, stands out for its modern and sporty look. The single tank was unchanged, while the head lamp now has a more streamlined and compact design that integrates the instrumentation has also been completely renovated. The 2011 Hornet was distinctive due to the new sleek and slender tail upwards, which accentuates the sporting image of the vehicle. After all, the design of the latter is undoubtedly more conservative than before, but many will agree in saying that, at this historical moment, the market is not that good inclined to accept flights of fancy, and so it is best to focus on forms perhaps less personal but can better accommodate the tastes of a broad audience.

To help propel the look of the rear, the passenger door handles are now integrated in the tail. The new headlight / fairing is surrounded by two side profiles that evoke the wing and increase the Honda family feeling with the CB1000R. The projector is now in double rather than single dish, and it is placed under the position lamp shaped like a V. The technical basis of the Hornet 2011 is unchanged, then we find the known 566 cm3 engine capable of delivering 102 hp, the well-known single-beam frame Alloy adjustable suspension and introduced the 2009 model year. Both the front to the rear which, in fact, you can adjust the spring preload and rebound damping.

Three colors are planned for 2011: Sprint Pearl and Yellow Pearl Cool White added that the inevitable Nightstar Black Pearl.

MotoGP 125: Indian manufacturer plans 2011 entry

Mahindra and Mahindra to enter 125cc World Championship?

The final year of the 125cc World Championship could feature a new manufacturer, with Indian brand Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) planning a 2011 entry.
This category [125cc] is relevant to people in India as the bulk of the bikes [sold here] are in the 110cc and 125cc," siliconindia.com quotes Anand Mahindra, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Mahindra & Mahindra group as saying.

"The advertising in the recent Football World Cup [for the group's technology arm Mahindra Satyam] made us understand the power of global branding and benefited the group.

"So this is an interesting sequential chapter to our global branding effort."

A formal announcement on M&M's 125cc grand prix plans should be made "shortly".

India will host its first F1 race next October and there are rumours that the country could join the MotoGP calendar.

Five manufacturers scored points in this year's 125cc World Championship: Derbi and Aprilia (both owned by Piaggio), Honda, KTM and Lambretta.

A new four-stroke Moto3 class will replace 125cc from 2012.

Carmelo Ezpeleta : Singapore is expected to enter MotoGP in 2012

Singapore has won the entire automotive world with the organization of the Formula 1 Grand Prix since 2008. The city-state now seeks to organize a Grand Prix MotoGP and for that they've got a circuit permamente called Changi Motorsports in honor of the financial group that has taken over the works.

Carmelo Ezpeleta has visited a circuit that has cost more than $ 250 million and sees little reason for this GP can not already be in calendar 2012. The circuit is not the same in the running of Formula 1 and it is unclear whether it will follow the fashion of Qatar to run at night. Are new times since then and at least hope that these new routes not move from programming to some historical circuits as has happened with all four wheels.

Carmelo Ezpeleta," I'm happy to say that things are going well for us to go to Singapore. When the FIM approved safety circuit we can start talking to the owners of it and when you could organize the first race."

The American, Testing as a factory rider for the first time, put in 49 laps before 1pm and is already looking forward to further developing the bike in Malaysia in February.
"We've had another good day and another day of learning,” he said. “We messed with the bike a bit, changed some settings and went in a positive direction. So another good session working with the new crew again, I'm very happy with it.”
Spies added: “I read some comments from Jorge about the new engine for next year, he seemed to be happy with the way that was going so I look forward to seeing that in Malaysia. I'm looking forward to now having a couple of months of then getting back to it!"
Spies’ Crew Chief Tom Houseworth, who has made the switch from the Tech 3 team with the rider, commented: "We tested the prototype again this morning, we collected the data from yesterday and following a meeting last night made some setting changes for today which we tested with very positive results. Once we had achieved these we went ahead and tested the Bridgestone tyres, testing three options, one of which Ben really liked a lot.”
“The test has been very productive and very promising for the future on the new bike. Ben is really optimistic and looking forward to continuing at Sepang."

BMW Motorrad and Husqvarna Motorcycles at EICMA 2010

As of Sept. 2010, BMW Motorrad sales have exceeded those of 2009 by 17 %. To date they have delivered over 81,500 motorcycles to customers worldwide.

Growth has come from the S 1000 RR; the shooting star of the season. BMW Motorrad has managed at first-go to conquer second place in the segment and may be on the way to becoming the world's top-selling superbike.

The new BMW K 1600 GT and the K 1600 GTL are innovative six-cylinder touring bikes that may be a start of another motorcycle model offensive from German motorcycle company.

The new entry-level model from BMW Motorrad is the G 650 GS. In an attractive enduro design, the G 650 GS continues the success story of BMW's single-cylinder bikes.

The new DOHC Boxer engine, which was first presented at EICMA 2009, is now also available on the new 2011 BMW R 1200 R and Classic.

The R 1200 R Classic, with its exclusive features and the traditional color concept in black and white, is targeted fully at up-market motorcyclists who enjoy classic roadsters.

Earlier than this, BMW unveiled a R 1200 GS that is virtually all black. The world's top-selling motorcycle can now be ordered as "Triple Black" special edition motorcycle that will be ready to be delivered as of January.

Apart from the standard spoke wheels, the "Triple Black" technically corresponds to the R 1200 GS. Its exclusive color scheme serves to emphasize the masculine touch of this large touring enduro.

The BMW Motorrad Concept C scooter provided a concrete look at the next generation of big scooters. The "C" stands for "Commuter" and indicates the primary field of use in urban areas.

The Mille 3 is a highly emotional concept bike from Husqvarna. It attempts to show that Husqvarna can do far more than develop excellent off-road motorcycles.

In the years to come, BMW intends to substantially boost sales of BMW Motorrad and Husqvarna Motorcycles.

The plan is to position new models that appeal to a broader audience and they will be entering motorcycle segments in which BMW Motorrad or Husqvarna were they have not historically played.

The Estoril in action.

Here's an official FIM YouTube video highlighting the 2010 Estoril MotoGP that occurred on Sunday, Oct. 31.
The winner was this year's MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo; the Fiat Yamaha rider took the lead with 12 laps out of 28 to go, and wasn't challenged again. It was the MotoGP Champ's eight win of the 2010 season, and his third conescuvtive win at Estoril.

Joining Lorenzo on the podium were his teammate Valentino Rossi and Repsol Honda rider Andrea Dovizioso.

One rider didn't start on Sunday, Monster Tech 3 Yamaha rider Ben Spies. The Texan, who clinched the 2010 MotoGP Rookie of the Year award last round in Australia, went down during the sighting lap, and dislocated his left ankle.

It is uncertain if Spies will race at the final MotoGP round in Valencia; something official should be released soon.

Sunday was the driest day of the race weekend. Riders encountered much rain during the practice and qualifying sessions, which created problems with tuning the bikes and tire choices.

There were also three other DNFs: Pramac Racing Ducati rider Aleix Espargaro crashed out on lap one; Ducati Team rider Casey Stoner lost his back end on Turn 13; and the World Superbike rider substituting for Mika Kallio on the other Pramac Ducati coasted into the paddock with 15 laps to go due to arm pump problems

Stoner's crash came from lack of grip on his Ducati GP10. The MotoGP teams didn't have much time to tweak suspension settings due to the track being soaking wet on Friday and Saturday. Also, the track was still a bit damp on Sunday.

The final round of the 2010 MotoGP Championship occurs in Valencia, Spain, this weekend. The big battle will be for second-place, as Rossi has shortened the lead of the man currently in second place, Repsol Honda Dani Pedrosa, to 19 points.

• Oval sub-throttles help keep the engine slim, and a slim midsection allows an ideal bike/rider interface for maximum comfort and control
• Engine’s rev limiter comes into play “softly,” providing usable overrev character since power doesn’t drop off suddenly at high rpm
• The engine’s relatively low crankshaft position allows a moderately long stroke without adding engine height
• A secondary engine balancer, driven off a gear on the sixth web of the crankshaft, eliminates excess vibration and contributes to rider comfort
Cool Air System
• Intake system routes cool air to the airbox via ducts in the fairing, minimizing performance loss due to heated intake air
• Duct positioning – close to the rider – allows the intake howl to be heard and enjoyed
• Airbox resonator reduces noise at low rpm and enhances intake sound at higher revs
Exhaust System
• The exhaust system features a 4-into-2-pre-chamber-into-2 layout. Silencer end-caps maintain the quad-style image

Slim-type Fuel Pump
• Slim-type fuel pump features an integral fuel gauge
• Fuel tank design and slim-type fuel pump minimizes dead volume inside the tank; fuel capacity is 4.0 gallons
Bodywork
• Supersport-style full-fairing bodywork gives the Ninja 1000 a distinctive, head-turning look, and also offers plenty of wind and weather protection for short-tour ability
• The fairing’s slat-style leading edges direct wind around the bike, allowing the fairing to be narrower at the middle
• The fairing flares at the rear, keeping hot engine air from hitting the rider’s legs
• Original design front turn signals are integrated into the fairing and are attached to the inside of the fairing with rubber mounts that minimize damage if the bike falls over
• ZX-6R-spec front fender contributes to excellent aerodynamics and racy looks
• Slim and compact tail cowl moves mass physically and visually toward the front of the bike
• LED taillight features red LED bulbs and a red transparent lens
• Slim rear fender gives the bike a light-looking rear end
• Windscreen is manually adjustable for optimum wind/weather protection
• Windscreen has three available positions spanning approximately 20 degrees and ranging from sporty to maximum wind protection. Adjustment can be done by hand (no tools required) by depressing the release button below the instrument panel. Windscreen adjustment should always be done with the bike stopped
Aluminum Backbone Frame
• Aluminum backbone frame is similar in concept to the Ninja ZX-10R’s, and helps make the bike narrow and easy to grip with the knees for maximum rider comfort and feedback
• The frame is lightweight and highly rigid, and uses the engine as a stressed member for solid handling and optimum stability
• Frame elements are tuned to transmit optimal engine feedback to the rider
• The frame’s five-piece construction consists of steering stem, left and right main frames, and two cross pieces. The two main frame components have open C-shaped cross sections
• Welds were eliminated wherever possible for simplicity and appearance; the frame beams and swingarm brackets are single die-cast pieces
• The new frame uses four engine mounts, three of which are rigid, one of which (the upper rear crankcase mount) is rubber
• Rear subframe is a three-piece aluminum die-casting assembly that’s light, strong and optimizes mass centralization
• The sub-frame is an example of form and function combined, negating the need for side covers and allowing underseat narrowness for a shorter reach to the ground
Horizontal Back-Link Rear Suspension
• All-new rear suspension design positions the shock unit and linkage above the swingarm where it’s less exposed to exhaust heat and contributes to mass centralization
• Visible from the outside, the horizontal monoshock contributes to the Ninja 1000’s ultra-sporty appearance
• Linkage characteristics are the same as those of a standard Uni-Trak® system: Wheel movement versus shock stroke is the same ratio
• The shock features stepless rebound damping and spring preload adjustability for a custom-tuned ride
Fully Adjustable 41mm Fork
• The Ninja 1000’s inverted fork is adjustable for compression damping, rebound damping and spring preload – and is protected from harm by a cool-looking shroud
• Settings are designed for both sporty performance and ride quality
• Separate, raised handlebars contribute to the sporty, comfortable riding position; bar stays are mounted to the fork tube tops, which extend above the top clamp
• A thick urethane seat provides a high level of rider and passenger comfort
• Tapered-type grips, like those used on supersport models, offer a more direct feel
• Ninja ZX-10R-style footpegs with knurled surfaces offer good grip, direct feel and control, and no-nonsense looks
• The passenger footpeg brackets incorporate convenient luggage hooks
Brakes
• 300mm front petal-type brake discs are gripped by opposed four-piston radial-mount calipers. (Caliper piston size is 4x30 mm)
• A radial-pump front brake master cylinder contributes to the superb control and feel offered by these high-end calipers
• The rear brake is a single piston, pin-slide caliper gripping a 250mm petal-type disc. The caliper is mounted below the swingarm, and located by a torque rod
Large-Volume Fuel Tank
• Five-gallon (19L) fuel tank offers substantial range
• Steel construction facilitates use of magnetic tank bag
• Tank shape (flared edges and a trim shape at the back) allows riders to easily grip tank with their knees
Instrumentation

2011 MotoGP: Capirossi to Pramac Ducati

The 2010 MotoGP Championship was not the best for Pramac Racing Ducati, or Loris Capirossi on the Rizla Suzuki GSV-R.
But in 2011, both Pramac and Capirossi are hoping this changes, considering they will be united. Pramac announced Thursday that the Italian will join the Ducati satellite team for next year.
This will be Capirossi's first return to riding a Ducati since 2007 when he finished seventh in the championship competing on the Ducati Corse GP7. The following year Capirossi joined Suzuki, and remained there until the news of him joining Pramac in 2011; in his Suzuki years, he finished 10th in 2008, ninth in 2009 and is currently 17th in this year's championship.
Next year, Capirossi will be back on the 800cc Ducati with Pramac, which will be the team's 10th year in MotoGP.
Pramac says Capirossi is considered one of the icon of the MotoGP World Championship in which he has regularly taken part from more than twenty years: he has the record of Grand Prix, until today he have raced 313 Grand Prixs.
In his long career, the Italian rider has won 29 Grand Prix and had conquer 99 podiums and three World Championship, two in the 125 cc class, in which he holds the record of youngest rider to conquer a World Championship, and one in the 250 cc category.
Capirossi will start on the Pramace Ducati at the Valencia Test in November.
As for Capirossi's teammate Alvaro Bautista, nothing official has been released, but he will likely be on the one-man Rizla Suzuki team for 2011.
As for Capirossi's teammate for 2011, the current rider, Aleix Espargaro, is expected to the one. But Pramac hasn't made an official statement. But rumors are circulating that Randy de Puniet, the current LCR Honda rider, may be taking the seat.
Next year, current Moto2 champion Toni Elias is taking de Puniet's spot on LCR; Elias was at one point rumored to be joining Pramac also, but now that he's on LCR, there's a strong possibility that de Puniet may join Pramac.
Loris Capirossi says: "This return on a Ducati bike make me feel like a child. I do not feel my 37 years! I have a great desire to start this new adventure, I'm enormously pleased about this new agreement that was reached with the Pramac Racing Team, this will allow me to ride and be part of an Italian Team."
"I would like to thank the Team Principal of the Pramac Racing Team, Paolo Campinoti, for giving me this great opportunity and for the confidence placed in me. I'll find again the Ducati, with whom I had very good results over the past years and that I was able to develop in the 2007, this is an unique sensation for me."
"I thank Suzuki for the years we spent together and thanks also to the excellent relationship maintained with them, they had give me the possibility to race with my new Team since Valencia's test of next month."
Paolo Campinoti (Pramac Racing Team Principal) says: "We are very pleased to have closed an agreement with one of the most experienced riders and one of the most titled of the current MotoGP World Championship. The deal between us was very simple because Pramac Racing Team, and him, always aim to try to fight for important results."
"We do not need to talk about Loris, we all know him, we know his value and we are sure that thanks to his quality, we'll have fun next year on all the tracks, taking also some satisfaction. With Loris we will celebrate our tenth anniversary in the World Championship and this is a real honor for us. We know that Loris had conquer in his career 99 podiums and we hope to achieve together the triple digits. I would like to thank our partners who have welcomed our choice and we hope that Loris's and Pramac Racing Team fans will follow us with passion during next season."

THE NEW LIMITED ARAI TT SERIES

THE NEW LIMITED ARAI TT SERIES

For 2010 and the next two successive years, Arai and the Isle of Man TT organization have chosen a new sponsoring concept: Arai will introduce three limited special Isle of Man TT edition helmets in 2010, 2011 and 2012 respectively. Each run of Aldo Drudi designed TT Series will be limited to strictly 500 helmets only and the Isle of Man TT organization will receive a commission for every helmet sold.

Arai Helmet has for many years been a proud supporter and sponsor of the Isle of Man TT races. Year upon year Arai course banners and sign posts have decked the world famous track and again this year, as in previous years, Arai will be present on the Isle of Man, supporting the organisation of the Isle of Man TT races.

The first  2010 TT Series will be priced at  € 899,- (euro price including VAT – £699.99 GBP) including the free display set and will be exclusively distributed by Arai’s UK importer Phoenix Distribution through their Five Star dealer Crossan Motorcycles.

The Isle of Man TT marshals will also use the 2010 TT Series Arai helmet for high visibility and to promote to the public.

History

There has always been a strong bond between Arai and the Isle of Man TT races. Many competitors and visitors prefer Arai helmets and for many years, Arai has sponsored the event. It was therefore not a big surprise when the introduction of the limited edition ‘’Isle of Man Centennial’’ model in 2007 proved to be a huge success.

Over time, Arai has amassed extensive knowledge when it comes to producing limited edition helmets and models like the Joey Dunlop Replica and the Haga Monza underline that success.
